Women’s Tennis Brings Home 18 Singles Wins and Individual Champion at Viking Invitational

CLEVELAND – Xavier women's tennis closed out their second team invitational this weekend at the Viking Invitational, hosted by Cleveland State University. The Musketeers competed in three singles matches and three doubles matches over a three-day period, ending with an 18-4 record in singles and an 9-2 record in doubles. Freshman Anna Roggenburk brought home the singles individual title for the Musketeers after going undefeated in the No. 1 spot.
Xavier began the weekend with a singles matchup against Akron. Roggenburk defeated the Zips in the No. 1 spot, 6-7(5), 6-2, 1-0(4). Emily Thomas added a win in the No. 2 spot, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0(7). Hunter Roper and Natalie Moyer added victories in the No. 3 and 5 spots, both of which were two-set wins. Moyer also added another 6-3, 5-7, 13-11 win over UCONN on day one. Anna Letto defeated Aliona Kruglov, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 spot, and Lauren Fitz-Randolph closed out the match with a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0(3) victory.
The Musketeers' only two doubles losses came at the hands of Cleveland State on day one. Anna Roggenburk and Rachael Reichenbach fell 6-4 in the No. 1 spot, while Anna Letto and Hunter Roper fell 6-1 in the No. 3 spot. Kaitlin Ruether and Emily Thomas defended the No. 2 spot with a 6-4 victory.

Anna Roggenburk and Anna Letto grabbed a 7-6 win in the No. 1 spot, while Rachael Reichenbach and Kaitlin Ruether won 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. Emily Thomas and Hunter Roper added a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 spot. Natalie Moyer and Lauren Fitz-Randolph finished the day with a 6-0 victory over Akron, giving Xavier a 4-2 record in doubles after day two.
In singles, the Musketeers picked up five singles wins over Cleveland State. Roggenburk collected a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 1 spot, while Thomas added a 6-3, 7-5 win in the No. 2 spot. Roper defended the No. 3 spot with a 6-3, 6-4 win and Moyer added a 6-1, 7-5 win in the No. 5 spot. Anna Letto closed out singles for day two with a 6-0, 4-6, 1-0(4) victory.
In the last singles matchup, Roggenburk picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over UCONN in the No. 1 spot. Roper and Reichenbach picked up wins in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. Moyer added a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 5 spot and Ruether defeated Caroline Cook, 7-5, 6-3. Letto grabbed Xavier's last singles victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Following the third day of singles, Natalie Moyer is now a perfect 8-0 in singles this fall. Hunter Roper is also undefeated in fall invitational play, going 6-0 so far. Anna Roggenburk is also off to a hot start, going 10-2 in her first 12 singles matchups of the fall season.
