 Highlights |
• Jayda Carlton recorded blocks 99 and 100 on the season in tonight's match, totally half of Xavier's block total. She also had four kills and a .300 hitting percentage as part of her five-point performance.
• Freshman MaryAnn O'Toole and Junior Moriah Hopkins led the Xavier attack with seven kills a piece. O'Toole led all Musketeers with 8.5 points, while Hopkins had the best hitting percentage at an even .500.
• Carrigan O'Reilly added 16 assists to bring her season total to 418, while Madi Kutruff added 12 digs to her team-high 263 total.

  Summary |
• Xavier's impressive night started early, as they traded blows with the #10 team in the country for most of the first set. Despite a 3-0 run to put Marquette in control at 12-7, the Musketeers responded well to get back within one at 13-14. Marquette would put together a couple more 3-0 runs, but it took until the final point to put Xavier away, 25-12. Interestingly, Marquette struggled from the service line, notching seven errors, but would fix the issue for the remainder of the match. Meanwhile, Xavier went the duration of the match without a single fault.
• The Golden Eagles got ahead in Set Two and never looked back. While never far behind, Xavier never could put three points together and Marquette steadily got out in front. However, despite trailing by as much as nine at 7-16, the Musketeers again showed their fight to never led the lead get any bigger. Ultimately Marquette hung on to clinch the set by the same margin, 25-16.
• In what would be the final set, Xavier was the one in control for the early going. Leading all the way until a 3-0 Marquette run at 8-6, the teams tied at 9-9, 10-10, 11-11 and 12-12. The trend continued as the teams traded the next 8 consecutive points before Marquette finally mounted a two-point lead, which would prove the difference at 21-19. Following a Xavier timeout, Marquette went on one final 3-0 run to clinch the set and the match, 25-20.
