No. 18/21 Xavier Takes On Florida On Sunday For The Charleston Classic Championship

Musketeers are looking to start the season 7-0 for the first time since 2016-17.
CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The No. 18/21 Xavier University Musketeers, 6-0, take on the University of Florida Gators, 4-2, on Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. in the championship game of the Charleston Classic on ESPN. Xavier earned a spot in the title game with a 75-74 double overtime win over UConn in a late Friday night semifinal, while Florida defeated in-state rival Miami 78-58 in Friday afternoon semifinal action.
Xavier is shooting for its first regular season tournament title since winning the 2016 Tire Pros Invitational in Orlando.

• Xavier junior Naji Marshall, preseason First Team All-BIG EAST, scored XU's final five points of regulation vs. UConn and XU's first eight points in the first overtime. He finished with a game-high 21 points.

• Xavier freshman Zach Freemantle's five blocks are the most by a Musketeer since Zach Hankins blocked six shots vs. Detroit Mercy last season and the most by an XU freshman since Aaron Williams had seven at Loyola of Chicago in the 1989-90 season.
• Xavier graduate student Bryce Moore recorded the first double-figure scoring game of his XU career with 12 points vs. Towson, including three 3-pointers.
