Marshall, Jones Combine for 40 Points in 81-63 Win Over Siena

Musketeers overcome early deficit for second-straight non-conference win
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's basketball defeated Siena, 81-63, on Friday evening in front of a sellout crowd of 10,430 at Cintas Center. Senior Tyrique Jones and junior Naji Marshall both scored a team-high 20 points, while Jason Carter and Bryce Moore added Xavier career highs in scoring to lead the Musketeers in their 18-point victory.

FIRST HALF |
- After a cold start offensively, Xavier opened the game with a made three-pointer from Jason Carter with 17:00 left to play in the game. On the following possession, Naji Marshall connected on a contested jumper in the paint to make the score 6-5 in favor of the Saints.
- With 13:20 left to play, Quentin Goodin connected on a pull-up three-pointer to bring the Musketeers back within one point, making the score 11-10 in favor of Siena.
- Tyrique Jones tied the game with 10:30 left to play in the half following a made second-chance layup. Two possessions later, Marshall gave the Musketeers their first lead of the game by hitting a fall-away three-pointer as the shot clock expired, making the score 18-15.
- With 6:00 left to play in the half, Jones pulled down his fourth offensive rebound of the game and threw down a dunk from the left block off an assist from Bryce Moore, giving Xavier a 26-16 lead.
- Consecutive made driving layups by Marshall from the right side gave the Musketeers a 32-25 advantage over the Saints with 3:30 left to play in the half. On the next offensive possession, Marshall drove down the right side and lobbed a pass to Jones for an alleyoop dunk, giving Xavier an eight-point lead.
- Following a steal by Marshall, Jason Carter connected on a last-second layup as time expired to make the score 42-33 in favor of the Musketeers going into halftime.
- Xavier shot 13-for-30, 43 percent, from the floor in the half and scored 20 points in the paint.
- Marshall scored a team-high 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor. He also brought down five rebounds and dished out three assists in the half.
- Jones added 12 points for the Musketeers in the half on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. Jones also grabbed a team-high six rebounds, four of which were offensive, and had a blocked shot.

- Xavier took a 46-36 lead with 17:10 left to play in the game following a fast-break layup made by Quentin Goodin off a Siena turnover.
- Bryce Moore gave the Musketeers a 53-38 lead with 13:00 left in the game following a made three-pointer off of an assist from Goodin. On the following possession, Naji Marshall made a contested driving layup to extend Xavier's lead.
- With 11:00 left to play, Dahmir Bishop connected on a three-pointer off of a Siena turnover to give Xavier a 61-40 lead. On the next possession, Jones drew an intentional foul and connected on both free-throws.
- After trading made buckets with the Saints, Marshall connected on a second chance put-back layup off a Dontarius James miss to give Xavier a 73-53 lead with 4:50 left to play in the game.
- James connected on a pull-up three-pointer with 2:30 left to play in the game, giving Xavier a 21-point lead. With 0:15 left to play, Miles Hanson threw down a one-handed dunk from the right side off of an assist from Spencer Cody. The Musketeers won the game by a final score of 81-63.
- The Musketeers shot 14-of-33, 42 percent, from the field in the half and shot 27 percent from beyond the arc. Xavier scored 17 bench points in the second half and capitalized on 11 points off Siena turnovers.
- Tyrique Jones led the way for the Musketeers in the half, scoring eight points and shooting 75 percent from the floor in just seven minutes of play.
- Marshall scored seven points, pulled down three rebounds and dished out four assists in the half. Moore added six points, two rebounds and one assist in nine minutes of play.

- Naji Marshall and Tyrique Jones both scored a team-high 20 points in the contest. Marshall did so on 7-of-18 shooting and connected on one three-pointer. Jones shot 8-of-12 from the floor and grabbed four offensive rebounds in the game.
- Jason Carter and Bryce Moore both scored Xavier career-highs on the night. Carter scored nine points on 3-of-7 shooting, while Moore scored eight points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists.
