Musketeers take 4-0 win over Hoyas

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Xavier women's tennis moved to 2-0 in BIG EAST play with a 4-0 win over Georgetown on Sunday afternoon. The Musketeers move to 4-2 on the season.

"It was great to get out there today and get another conference win!" said Sophia Abelson. "Going 2-0 to start BIG EAST play is a good feeling and really helps us set the tone for the rest of the season! I'm really proud of the whole team, everyone stepped up and brought great energy and fight. This weekend should give us a lot of confidence moving forward as we get ready for our home opener next Sunday against Miami!"

THE MATCH

Xavier took the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 spot for Sophia Abelson and Kaitlin Ruether, 6-3, and in the No. 3 spot for Hunter Roper and Rachael Reichenbach, 6-4.

After going ahead 1-0, Xavier collected wins three singles wins. The Musketeers got the win in the No. 1 singles spot for Sophia Abelson, 6-2, 6-1.
Kaitlin Ruether took the No. 5 singles spot, 6-1, 6-1 and Natalie Moyer's 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 6 spot helped secure the 4-0 result.

In the No. 2 spot, Emily Thomas was tied 6-6 in the first set when the match was decided.

Rachael Reichenbach led in the second set of the No. 3 spot, 2-1, when the Musketeers secured the win. Hunter Roper was also in the second set in the No. 4 spot, down 6-3, 2-1 when the match was decided.
