Swimming Travels to Long Island for BIG EAST Championships

Conference meet runs from February 20-23 at Nassau County Aquatic Center on Long Island
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will head to Nassau County Aquatic Center on Long Island, N.Y. for the 2019 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships presented by Jeep. The meet kicks off Wednesday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m and runs through Saturday, February 23.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday will each feature a morning prelims session, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and an evening finals session. All session will be available for live stream on the BIG EAST Digital Network and the FOX Sports Go app.

The championships will be held Feb. 20-23 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center on Long Island, N.Y.
Single-session tickets can be purchased at $12 for adults and $6 for seniors (65+) and children (17 and under). Purchase your single-session tickets online here.
All-session tickets are still available at $40 for adults and $25 for seniors and children. The all-session tickets are good for all seven sessions, Wednesday through Saturday. Click here for all-session tickets.
There will be a limited amount of all-session and single-session tickets available for purchase at the Nassau County Aquatic Center starting Wednesday, Feb. 20, during the first session.

Xavier's women will face off with five squads, including defending champions Villanova, as well as Georgetown, Seton Hall, Providence and Butler. The Musketeer women collected 11 top-three finishes, including four second-place finishes in relays, to finish in fourth place as a team, standing behind champions Villanova, Georgetown and Seton Hall.
Six of Xavier's seven 2018 All-BIG EAST conference honorees on the women's side, Emily Conners, Caroline Gaertner, Abigail Garner, Becca Titterton, Tianna Vozar and Samantha White, return for this year's championships.
FREESTYLE
Xavier enters the conference meet with the two top times in the BIG EAST in the 50 free, with Emily Conners time of 22.95 leading the league so far this season, and Tianna Vozar's time of 23.33 the second fastest.
Conners and Vozar also lead the Musketeers in the 100 free, with Conners' time of 49.97 the best time by a BIG EAST Competitor this season. Vozars' top 100 free time ranks seventh.
Conners also leads Xavier with a 200 free time of 1:50.67. Emily Saugstad also has a top-eight time of 1:52.28 in the event.
Abigail Garner's time of 4:59.16 in the 500 free leads four Musketeers whose time rank in the top 10 in the conference.
In the mile, Tilly Baldwin's top time of 17:10.10 ranks fourth in the BIG EAST so far this season. Emma Kauffeld and Katie Kerr each set times rated in the top 10 of the BIG EAST.
BACKSTROKE
Xavier's women enter the BIG EAST Championships with three of the top four times set in the 100 back by conference competitors so far this season. Ali Fort's time of 54.30 in the 100 back is the top time in the conference entering the meet. Three-time 100 back silver medalist Caroline Gaertner enters with the third best time and freshman Lydia Schaeffer's top time stands in fourth.
Taylor Hogan leads the Musketeers in the 200 back with a top time of 2:02.21, which ranks in the top-five in the BIG EAST.
BREASTSTROKE
Lydia Schaeffer leads the Musketeers in both the 100 and 200 breast, posting top-five times in both. Schaeffer's time of 1:04.46 in the 100 brest is third in the conference, while her time of 2:22.39 in the 200 breast is fifth.
Alison Herman and Kelly Harris each have top-seven times in the 200 breast as well.
BUTTERFLY
IM
Alison Herman and Taylor Hogan lead the Musketeers in the 200 IM, with both posting top seven times in the conference in the event.
Herman and Hogan also lead Xavier in the 400 IM with four Musketeers posting top-10 times.Â
RELAYS
Xavier has posted a top-two time in the conference in each of the five relays to be run at the conference Championship. In the 200 free relay, Xavier's time was less than half a second-behind league-leader Villanova at 1:32.67. Xavier's time of 3:24.15 in the 400 free relay also stands behind only Villanova.
Xavier posted a top-time of 7:28.30 in the 800 free relay, second fastest in the conference.
Xavier's 200 medley relay time of 1:42.60, set at the CSU Magnus Cup, was the top time in the BIG EAST so far this season, while the 400 medley relay time was second, at 3:45.09.

Alex Sironon led 11 qualifiers in the 50 free with a time of 21.12. Three Musketeers posted qualifying times that rank in the top eight in the conference.

Four Musketeers have times among the top six in the 100 free, led by Sam Johanns' time of 45.42, set at CSU Magnus Cup. The time was the second fastest in the conference this season.

Ben Quon leads the Musketeers with the top qualifying times in the 200 free and 500 free. Quon's time of 1:41.38 in the 200 free was the third fastest time in the BIG EAST this season, and his time of 4:38.85 is top eight.
In the mile, Nick Mahoney, last year's silver medalist in the event, leads the Musketeers with a season-best time of 16:04.98.
BACK
Xavier again returns a strong core in the 100 backstroke, posting five of the top nine times in the conference this season. Sam Johanns, who was the 2017 BIG EAST Championship and placed third last season, leads Xavier with a top time of 49.75. In the 200 back, Xavier has five of the top eight times, with Chase Baldwin and Alex Sironen leading Xavier this season with times of 1:50.88.Â
BREASTSTROKE
Matthew Dyer, who swept the championships for the breaststroke at the 2017 BIG EAST meet, and placed top two in both events last season, leads the Musketeers in both the 100 and 200 yet again.

In the 100, Dyer's time of 56.39 in the 100 breast is the second-fastest time among BIG EAST competitors this season and leads six Musketeers who have posted qualifying times.Â

In the 200 breast, Dyer leads five Musketeers with qualifying times with a time of 2:04.20, third fastest so far this season.Â
Roark Lundal, Cameron Weese and Elliot Steinberg each posted a qualifying time in both events as well.
BUTTERFLY
Two of Xavier's three championship-heat participants from last season's 100 fly return. After losing two-time defending champion in the event, Knox Hitt, to graduation, David Bunnell, who finished fourth in the event last season, leads the Musketeers with a time of 49.80, which ranks second in the conference.

In the 200 fly, Landon Clark, who placed fourth at last season's championship, has a team-best time of 1:52.20 going into the championship meet. Brandon Abboud also posted one of the top-eight times in the conference, 1:52.32.
IM
Chase Baldwin, Landon Clark and Matthew Dyer each posted a qualifying time in the 200 IM that ranks among the top-16 in the conference. Baldwin's time of 1:54.18 leads the way for the Musketeers.

Dyer and Baldwin, along with Bradley Jackson, also posted qualifying times in the 400 IM that ranking the top 10 in the conference, led by Dyer's time of 4:05.65 set at the Magnus Cup.

RELAYS
Xavier enters the conference meet with the top time in four of the five relays. Xavier's men's time of 1:23.01 at the CSU Magnus Cup is the top time in the BIG EAST in the 200 free relay. Xavier also posted a league-leading time of 3:02.89 in the 400 free relay at the Magnus Cup. Xavier's top time of 6:53.25 in the 800 free relay is top in the conference.
Xavier also has the top times in the 200 medley and 400 medley relay, both set at Magnus Cup, with times of 1:30.86 and 3:22.08 in the events, respectively.
