The freshman RHP picked up his first career win on Tuesday night

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Freshman RHP Lane Flamm picked up his first career win on Tuesday night, leading the Musketeers to a 5-4 win over No. 8 Louisville in 10 innings. Xavier improved to 2-5 on the year, while the Cardinals dropped to 5-3.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Junior Conor Grammes led the Musketeers at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and and an RBI. He now has four multi-hit games this season.
• Graduate student Jake Shepski was also 2-for-5 from the plate with one run. Senior Chris Givin was 1-for-4 with a team-high two runs.
• Freshman Jack Housinger extended his hit streak to three games as the third baseman went 1-for-4 with an RBI. He has posted an RBI in three straight games.
• Senior Matt Warkentin was 1-for-3 from the plate. The first baseman has posted a .533 batting average (8-for-15) in his last four games after staring the year 0-for-10 in a three-game series at No. 7 North Carolina.
• Both teams had eight hits in the contest and did not commit any errors. Louisville left five more runners on base (11-6) than Xavier.

XU ON THE MOUND

• Freshman Lane Flamm (1-1) earned his first career victory, throwing four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of relief. The right-handed pitcher only allowed three hits and one run.
• With runners on second and third with only one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, Flamm retired the final two Louisville batters to seal the win. He got Henry Davis to fly out to right field before striking out Justin Lavey to end the game.
• Senior Matt Kent made his first start of the season, throwing one strikeout with two walks in 4.1 innings of work. He allowed three earned runs.

HOW XU SCORED

FIRST INNING | Conor Grammes hit an RBI single to left field, scoring Chris Givin who reached base on a leadoff single to start the game. Ryan Altenberger drove in Jake Shepski later in the frame with a one out, sacrifice fly to center field.
FOURTH INNING | Jack Housinger hit a two-out RBI single through the left side, scoring Natale Monastra.
EIGHTH INNING | Conor Grammes scored his first run of the game on a wild pitch thrown by Michael Kirian.
TENTH INNING | Chris Givin crossed home plate on a passed ball, scoring from third base.

• Xavier returns to action in a three-game road series at Lipscomb on March 1-3. Game one of the weekend series is slated for 5 p.m. on Friday.
