
Allbry Major Drives in Five as Xavier Baseball Clinches Series Win at Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Allbry Major drove in five runs, hitting a decisive three-run homer in the sixth inning to lead Xavier baseball to a 10-1 win over Lipscomb on Saturday at Dugan Field.
XU improves to 4-5 overall and wins its third straight game, while also clinching its first series win of the season. The Bison dropped to 4-4 with the setback.
The Musketeers return to action to finish the series immediately with game three scheduled to start shortly.

• Sophomore Allbry Major had a big day at the plate, contributing a three-run homer and two-run triple as part of a 3-for-4 line with two runs scored and five RBI. The homer was the first of his 2019 season and the triple was his second of the series and third of the season.
• Senior Matt Warkentin kept rolling at the plate, putting together a 2-for-4 day with a walk, double and a run scored. He is now riding a six-game hitting streak, which has seen him bat .522 (12-for-23) with three homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored.Â
• Natale Monastra followed up a multi-hit game in Friday's series opener with a 1-for-3 day, driving in a pair of runs.
• Ryan Altenberger had a nice game as well, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. The sophomore infielder also walked and stole a pair of bases.
• Conor Grammes was held hitless in Friday's opener and bounced right back with a 1-for-3 game, launching a solo homer in the fourth inning. The junior also scored twice and walked.
• Jake Shepski went 1-for-4 with a run scored for the second straight game and now leads XU with a nine-game hitting streak to begin the season.
• Chris Givin was 1-for-5 with an RBI and a double. The senior has reached in all nine games to start the season.Â

• Sophomore Griffin Lanoue made his first start of the season and was picked up the win, giving Xavier 4.2 innings of scoreless ball. The righty struck out a pair and scattered three hits.
• Damien Richard came on to get the final out of the fifth and delivered 2.1 innings of one-run ball with a strikeout.
• Grad transfer Marko Boricich relieved Richard in the eighth and set down the side in order.
• Sam Czabala pitched the ninth, striking out the side to close out the win.

Allbry Major followed with a single to put runners on first and third with one out and Natale Monastra delivered a sacrifice fly to give XU a 1-0 lead.
FOURTH INNINGÂ | Conor Grammes led off the frame with a solo homer to left field, his second of the season, to extend the lead to 2-0.Â
FIFTH INNING | Kody Darcy reached on a hit by pitch and Chirs Givin followed with an RBI double down the left field line to make it 3-0.

SEVENTH INNING | Jake Shepski singled and moved to second on a passed ball before Chris Givin walked to put two on. With two outs, Ryan Altenberger singled to right field to bring home Shepski. After a stolen base by Altenberger, Allbry Major struck again with a two-run triple to center. Natale Monastra then capped the two out rally with a single through the left side to make it 10-1.
