Women's Golf Takes Fifth after Final Round of Edisto Island Invitational

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. - Xavier women's golf finished out the final round of the Edisto Island Invitational in fifth place with a team total of 878 (+26).

XU's current team owns the 18-hole, 36-hole, and 54-hole scoring records following this weekend's performance. Their second round performance broke the 18 and 36-hole scoring records with their single round total of 283 and their two-round total of 571. The current team set both the 18 and 36-hole records earlier in the season at the MAC Fall Preview with a 284 in a single round and 575 over the first two rounds. The team as held the 54-hole record since their performance at the Princess Anne Invitational in the fall, where they carded an 876.

Xavier led the tournament in par-5 scoring at 4.84 (-7) and eagles with 3 and was tied for second in total birdies with 40.

Mikayla Fitzpatrick concluded the tournament in fifth place with an even-par (213) performance through the 54-hole outing. Fitzpatrick holds the Xavier 18-hole and 36-hole low round records after her 7-under performance from round one and even-par performance from round two of the invitational. She finished the final round leading the field in par-5 scoring at 4.33 (-6) and eagles with 2. Fitzpatrick added 32 pars and nine birdies.

Lyndsey Hunnell finished the tournament tied for 11th overall, carding a 217 (+4) over the outing. She led the tournament in par-3 scoring at 2.67 (-4) and led XU with 10 birdies.

Andie Shukow and Morgan Tinsley both finished tied for 24th with totals of 224. Shukow carded 32 pars and seven birdies for the tournament while Tinsley finished with 35 pars to lead XU and six birdies.

Mikayla Smith completed the weekend tied for 40th, carding a 233.

The Musketeers finished fifth with a team score of 878 (+26).

North Florida won the invitational with a team total of 867 (+15).
