CINCINNATI --- Four members of the Xavier University men's basketball team have submitted their names for consideration in the 2019 NBA Draft. Juniors Quentin Goodin and Tyrique Jones and sophomores Naji Marshall and Paul Scruggs will take advantage of the NBA evaluation process while retaining their eligibility for returning to Xavier.
"The entire exploratory experience leading up to the NBA draft has changed to allow student-athletes the chance to gather as much information as possible," said Xavier head coach Travis Steele. "This is about giving our student-athletes valuable feedback to better understand the NBA landscape. We support our student-athletes as they take advantage of the opportunities available to them through the NBA's evaluation process."
Goodin led Xavier in assists for the third straight year this past season at 4.8 apg. to go with 11.0 ppg. Jones led Xavier in rebounding at 7.7 rpg. to go with 11.3 ppg. Marshall, a 2018-19 All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, led Xavier in scoring at 14.7 ppg., while ranking second in rebounding at 7.2 rpg. and assists at 3.4 apg. Scruggs, a 2019 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team selection, was XU's second-leading scorer at 12.3 ppg.
One major change this year is that student-athletes may sign with an NCAA-certified agent during this exploratory process and still have the opportunity to retain their NCAA eligibility and return to school.
