Ryan Fournier hits first homer of season, Matt Warkentin's seventh is a grand slam
CINCINNATI -Â Xavier baseball used a pair of hits, both homers, to top Northern Kentucky, 5-2, at Hayden Field on Wednesday afternoon. Xavier moved to 20-25 overall with the win.
NKU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Xavier tied it with a solo home run to lead off the third, then took the lead on a Matt Warkentin grand slam later in the inning to go ahead 5-1. NKU would pick up a run in the seventh to cut the lead to three, 5-2.
Xavier remains at home this weekend, hosting its final BIG EAST home series of the season. The Musketeers host Seton Hall for a three game, starting Friday, May 3 at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's game is set for 1:00 p.m. and Sunday's is set for a noon start, with the Musketeers celebrating Senior Day prior to the game.

THIRD INNING | Ryan Fourier led off the inning with his first home run of the season to tie the game 1-1. Conor Grammes was then hit by a pitch, followed by walks by Jake Shepski and Allbry Major to load the bases with no outs for Matt Warkentin, who hit a grand slam down the left field line to put Xavier ahead, 5-1.

- Ryan Fournier hit his first home run of the season in the third inning, finishing 1-of-3 at the plate.

- Henry Miller entered in the third, pitching two innings with a pair of strikeouts, allowing no runs on two hits and one walk. Miller picked up the win, his first of the season.
- Evan Miller entered in the fifth, pitching 2.1 innings with three strikeouts. Miller finished with one hit three walks and one earned run allowed.Â
- Jake Shepski came in for the the final two outs of the seventh, going 1.2 innings with three strikeouts and one walk, no hits and no runs ot his credit.
- David Williams pitched the ninth, facing the minimum and picking the the save, his first of the season.
