Garrett Wood Wraps Up Day One Action at NCAA Louisville Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sophomore Garrett Wood wrapped up day one action at the NCAA Louisville Regional on Monday afternoon. The three-day tournament is being held at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky.

Wood ranks tied for 60th after one round of play. The Mason, Ohio, native shot six over par (77) through 18 holes of golf.

Wood will tee off round two action at 9:31 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14.

ABOUT GARRETT WOOD

• Wood was selected to play in the NCAA Louisville Regional on May 1. He is one of 10 individual golfers competing at the Louisville Regional (45 total individuals at six regionals).

• Wood won the BIG EAST Individual Title on April 28 in Okatie, S.C., winning the championship by one stroke. He became the 12th player in program history to finish first at a conference championship.

• The Mason, Ohio, native will be the first Xavier to participate in the NCAA Tournament since Jose Montaño in 2016. All told, Xaver has participated in 12 NCAA Tournaments.

UP NEXT

• The NCAA Championships are being held on May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fatetteville, Ark. The top individual not from one of the top five teams from each regional (six regionals) will advance to the NCAA Championships.
