Xavier moves on to play loser from Creighton/St. John's on Saturday at 1 PM

MASON, Ohio - A pair of home runs, from Conor Grammes and Chris Givin, provided all the scoring Xavier would need to move on in BIG EAST Tournament play as the No. 2 seed Musketeers topped Seton Hall, 2-1, on Friday afternoon at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.

Xavier moves on to play the loser of tonight's game between No. 1 Creighton and No. 3 St. John's in the elimination game on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's game has been moved to 1:00 p.m., with game six, the potential Championship Game, moved to Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. due to Sunday's anticipated weather. The if-necessary game seven to determine the BIG EAST Champion will still be played Sunday, set for 1:00 p.m.

XU AT THE PLATE

Conor Grammes led off the game with a shot to right field, putting the Musketeers ahead early with his seventh home run of the season.
Chris Givin provided the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth with a lead-off solo shot to left field, his seventh home run of the year. Givin went 1-of-2 at the plate with a walk.
Jake Shepski went 1-of-2 at the plate, hitting his team-high tying 13th double. Shepski also took one of Xavier's three walks, his 35th of the season.

XU ON THE MOUND

Conor Grammes went 7.0 innings in the start, holding the Pirates scoreless on two hits and four walks with a pair of strikeouts. Grammes picked up the win, his fifth of the season.
Trey Schramm entered in the eighth, setting the Pirates down in order. Schramm allowed just one hit, a lead-off homer in the ninth.
Lane Flamm entered in the ninth, getting a pair of strikeouts in three batters faced to secure the win. Flamm earned his eighth save of the season.

HOW THEY SCORED

FIRST INNING | Conor Grammes led off the bottom of the first with a second-pitch home run over the right field wall to put Xavier ahead, 1-0.

FIFTH INNING | Chris Givin led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot to left field to put the Musketeers ahead, 2-0.
