Musketeers face Bluejays with BIG EAST Championship on the line
St. John's scored in the first and third to take two-run lead. Xavier erased the lead on a two-run homer for Luke Franzoni in the fourth, then took the lead on a five-run fifth, fueled by another two-run shot for Franzoni to go ahead 7-2. A Jake Shepski grand slam in the eighth put Xavier up nine, 11-2. SJU added a run in the ninth to set the final score at 11-3.
If Xavier win in the night-cap, it will force a game seven in the double elimination format, scheduled to be played Sunday at 1 p.m.

- Luke Franzoni hit a pair of homers, his ninth and tenth of the season, going 2-of-4 at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored.
- Ryan Altenberger went 2-of-3 at the plate, collecting two RBI and scoring a pair.
- Conor Grammes went 2-of-4 with a walk, scoring a run.
- Jake Shepski collected four RBI on a grand slam, finishing 2-of-5 at the plate.
- Jack Housinger colected a pair of hits, going 2-of-4 with a run scored.
- Allbry Major, Matt Warkentin, Chris Givin and Natale Monastra each contributed a hit, Xavier finished with 14 hits, including eight for extra bases.

- Griffin Lanoue went 2.2 in the start, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
- Trey Schramm entered for the final out of the third, pitching a season-high 4.1 innings with one strikeout and no runs allowed with three hits and a walk. Schramm picked up the win, his third of the season.
- Matt Kent entered in the eighth, walking a pair.
- Trevor Olson came in to close out the eight, striking out one and getting a double play.
- Evan Miller entered in the ninth, allowing one run on one hit and two walks to close out the game.

 HOW THEY SCORED |
FOURTH INNING | Ryan Altenberger was hit by a pitch to give the Musketeers a base runner with one out. Luke Franzoni homered to left center to tie the game, 2-2.
FIFTH INNING | Jake Shepski singled with one out, then advanced to second on a Matt Warkentin to give Xavier two base runners with two outs. Chris Givin collected a double after the SJU shortstop lost the ball in the sun, scoring Shepski and sending Warkentin to third to make it 3-2 Xavier. Ryan Altenberger singled to center field to score a pair, putting Xavier ahead 5-2. Luke Franzoni hit his second home run of the day with Ryan Altenberger aboard to put Xavier up 7-2.
EIGHTH INNING | A Jack Housinger single, Natale Monastra single and Conor Grammes walk loaded the base for Jake Shepski, who homered to right field for the grand slam, putting Xavier ahead, 11-2.
