Baseball Falls to Seton Hall In Game Two

Matt Warkentin scored two of Xavier's three runs.
CINCINNATI -- A late-game Seton Hall rally resulted in Xavier losing 11-3, Saturday afternoon. The Musketeers drop the series as their record falls to 20-27 overall and 9-4 in BIG EAST play.Â
The Musketeers jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Matt Warkentin led-off after being hit by a pitched before advancing to second on a Chris Givin single to center. Warkentin reached home on a sacrifice fly out from Luke Franzoni to give Xavier the first edge of the game.Â
Warkentin advanced home on a balk, extending Xavier's lead, 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth.Â
The Pirates evened the game with a two-run homerun in the top of the fifth. Seton Hall continued it's fifth-inning rally with a triple to center, leading to another run scored on a wild pitch, 3-2.Â
Ryan Altenberger and Natale Monastra drew a back-to-back walks to start the seventh. A Conor Grammes double to right, scoring Altenberger, tied the game at three.Â

Seton Hall responded with a two-RBI double to center, to reclaim the lead 5-3. Another RBI double extended the Pirate lead, 6-3. Seton Hall's eighth inning rally continued with a third straight RBI double, 7-3. A base-clearing triple gave SHU an 8-3 advantage.Â
Seton Hall added three more runs in the top of the ninth, 11-3.
The series finale and Senior Day will be Sunday, May 5 at Hayden Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., moved back from the originally scheduled starting time of 12 p.m.

- Jack Housinger double down the left field line in the fourth inning. Housinger also had a single to left center, finishing the day 2-2 from the plate with a walk.
- Matt Warkentin went 1-3 from the plate, scoring two runs for the Musketeers.
