Naji Marshall Leads Five Musketeers in Double Figures in Second-Straight Win over Spain Select

Musketeers erase first quarter deficit to win 109-74
MADRID – Xavier basketball made it two-for-two in Spain, erasing a first quarter deficit to take the 109-74 win over Spain Select in the second of three games on its international tour. Naji Marshall led five Musketeers in double-figures.
Xavier trailed 29-22 following the first quarter after dealing with foul trouble early in the game. Quentin Goodin and Naji Marshall each had five points to lead the Musketeers.
The Musketeers needed less than three minutes in the second quarter to erase the Spain lead, using a Paul Scruggs three to go ahead 34-33 with 7:22 remaining before halftime.
After going ahead, the Musketeers built out the lead, extending it out to 17, 58-41 at the halftime break. Naji Marshall led with 13 points in the first half. Zach Freemantle and KyKy Tandy each added 11 and Paul Scruggs added seven in the first half.
Spain Select would close to within 16, 73-57, in the third quarter, but Xavier responded, leading by as many as 37, 109-74, to close out the game.
Naji Marshall finished with 21 points to lead the Musketeers, shooting 67 percent from the floor, including a 4-of-6 mark from outside.
Zach Freemantle added 16 for the Musketeers, shooting 70 percent from the floor.
KyKy Tandy added 14 for the Musketeers, shooting 4-of-7 from beyond the three-point line.
Tyrique Jones scored 12 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds.
Quentin Goodin added 10, hitting a pair of threes.
Paul Scruggs finished with nine, shooting 75 percent from the floor.
Eleven Musketeers in total scored, including Dieonte Miles (8), Jason Carter (7), Dahmir Bishop (5), Myles Hanson (4) and Bryce Moore (3).
Xavier closes out the Spain tour on Wednesday, August 14 at 12:00 PM ET.
