Musketeers Close Out Spain Tour with 90-71 Win

Naji Marshall averages 19 points per game in three-game tour to lead Musketeers
MADRID – Xavier basketball closed out its international trip with a third-straight win, topping Spain Select 90-71 on Wednesday afternoon. Naji Marshall led the Musketeers for a third-straight game, totaling 20 points to lead four Musketeers in double figures.
Xavier took a 26-14 after the first quarter, led by eight points for Tyrique Jones, who connected on his first three field goals. The Musketeers extended the lead out to 51-37 at the break.
Jones led Xavier with 15 first half points and Quentin Goodin added 12 for the Musketeers before halftime.
Early in the second half, Spain Select made a run to close in on the Musketeers, opening the third with a 9-0 run to cut Xavier's lead to 51-46. Xavier responded by outscoring Spain Select 17-10 to close out the quarter and take a 68-56 lead into the fourth quarter.
Naji Marshall's team-high 20 points came on 5-of-9 shooting on two-point field goals.
Quentin Goodin added 18 for the Musketeers, shooting 50 percent from the floor. Tyrique Jones finished with 17, shooting 58 percent from the floor. Zach Freemantle shot 5-of-7 from the floor for 10 points.
Six other Musketeers contributed points, Bryce Moore (6), Dahmir Bishop (5), KyKy Tandy (5), Paul Scruggs (4), Dieonte Miles (3) and Jason Carter (2).
Carter led the Musketeers with 10 boards, Goodin and Jones each grabbed seven as Xavier out-rebounded Spain Select, 51-31.
For the three-game tour, Naji Marshall led the Musketeers averaging 19 points per game, shooting 19 of 35 through three games and connecting on 41 percent of his shots from outside.
Tyrique Jones averaged just under 14 points per game for the trip, shooting 67 percent from the floor.
Quentin Goodin averaged just over 11 points per game, shooting 46 percent from the floor for the trip.
Zach Freemantle contributed 11 points per game for the Musketeers, shooting 61.5 percent from the floor.
Xavier shot just under 50 percent from the floor for the trip, including a 33 percent clip from three.
