Rylan Bannon Called up to Orioles Triple-A Affiliate

NORFOLK – Xavier baseball standout Rylan Bannon was promoted in the Orioles organization on Tuesday, moving up to Triple-A Norfolk Tides from Double-A Bowie.
The 2017 BIG EAST Player of The Year was an eighth-round selection in the 2017 First Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and was traded to the Orioles organization in 2018, closing out the season with the Double-A Bowie Baysox.
For the Baysox this season, Bannon appeared in 110 games, hitting .255 with 22 doubles, four triples and eight home runs for 42 RBI. Bannon also has 47 walks for an on-base percentage of .345 on the season. The infielder has started at third in 64 games this season and 37 starts at second, fielding .952 on the season.
At Xavier, Bannon was twice named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, helping the Musketeers to the 2016 BIG EAST Regular Season title and back-to-back BIG EAST Tournament Championships in 2016 and 2017. Bannon was also named to the NCAA Tournament Nashville All-Regional Team in 2016 after Xavier advanced to the Regional Championship for the first time in program history, making a repeat appearance in the Louisville Regional Championship the following season.
