Volleyball drops match to Cincinnati, looks ahead to Bowling Green tomorrow

Xavier to face Falcons at 6:00 p.m. ET at Cintas Center
Xavier (3-6) is back in action tomorrow night as they play Bowling Green in their final non-conference match. To celebrate Area 51 Raid Day, fans who come to the match with an alien from Area 51 with get free tickets to the match. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. ET

• MaryAnn O'Toole had a career night, posting 9 kills, a .321 hitting percentage, 12 points and five blocks (one solo); each a career-high for the freshman.Â
• Jayda Carlton added six more blocks to her season total of 32, likely vaulting her to the second-best blocker in the BIG EAST. Additionally, the middle blocker contributed four kills without an error to aide the team offensively.
• Libero Alyssa Overbeck added 10 digs in the second set alone, doubling any other player's total in that set.

  Summary |
• Set One was 6-7 before a 7-0 run put Cincinnati in control, and they never looked back. Carlton had 3 kills on 5 attacks with no errors to lead Musketeers early, but the Bearcats' lead was never in much danger as they went on to clinch the set 25-17.
• Set Two began with a 3-0 start for Xavier, but UC took lead pretty quickly after, and went on to go up by as much as six. However, a 6-1 Xavier run cut the lead to one at 15-14. Then, Cincinnati countered with a 5-1 run to take a grasp of the set and finished 25-17.
• In Set Three, Xavier again took the first lead, but Cincinnati took it back. Unlike the previous two sets, the Musketeers fought off two early deficient to lead 12-11. Neither team built more than a two-point lead until UC book 13-13 tie to lead 17-13. Then, the wheels came off and Cincinnati went on 7-0 runt to get to set point and ultimately won 25-15.
