Women's Tennis Begins Fall Season

CINCINNATI - Head coach Doug Matthews has released the Fall invitational schedule for Xavier women's tennis. The schedule includes one tournament set to take place in the Cincinnati area. Xavier will return to action on Sept. 27 in the Hoosier Classic, hosted by Indiana University.
Xavier women's tennis will return two seniors and two juniors this year. Returning seniors include Lauren Fitz-Randolph and Rachael Reichenbach. Kaitlin Ruether and Ahmeir Kyle will return this fall as juniors. Sophomores Anna Letto, Natalie Moyer, Hunter Roper and Emily Thomas will return for their second year as Musketeers. Xavier adds just one freshman to the roster this year: Anna Roggenburk. Roggenburk went a perfect 37-0 her senior season at Magnificat high school and won two-straight Division I State Singles Championships.
Xavier will look to build off a historic spring last season, coming off a 22-3 regular season record and going a perfect 9-0 at home. The Musketeers tied a school record with 22 wins last season and fell narrowly in the BIG EAST Tennis Championship final to DePaul, 3-4. The Musketeers also set a school record with 20 consecutive victories last season.
Sept. 20-20 - Milwaukee Tennis Classic
Sept. 27-29 – at Indiana – Hoosier Classic
Oct. 4-6 – at Cleveland State – Viking Invitational
Oct. 11-12 – at Cincinnati – Pam Whitehead Invitational
Oct. 17-21 – at MTSU – ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships

Sept. 20-20 - Milwaukee Tennis Classic
- Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk will travel to Wisconsin to compete in the 44th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
- The pair will be among representatives from 21 different schools competing on the women's side, including BIG EAST opponent Marquette.
- Competition begins on Friday, with the opening round of singles and doubles, and continues through Monday's championship.
Sept. 27-29 – at Indiana – Hoosier Classic
- The Indiana women's tennis team will host the Hoosier at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.
- Those competing will include Cincinnati, Ohio State, Louisville, Kansas State, Marquette, Western Michigan, Middle Tennessee State and Indiana.
- Last season, Xavier defeated Cincinnati, Indiana and Middle Tennessee in the regular season.
- Competition will begin on Friday, Sept. 27 at 11:00 a.m. with singles. Doubles will follow at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Oct. 4-6 – at Cleveland State – Viking Invitational
- Cleveland State will host the Viking Invitational on Oct. 4-6 at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in Cleveland, OH.
- In their last matchup with the Vikings, Xavier defeated Cleveland State, 6-1, on Feb. 15, 2013.
- Feb. 10, 2012 was last time Xavier women's tennis traveled to Cleveland State. The Musketeers suffered a 3-4 loss that day.
Oct. 11-12 – at Cincinnati – Pam Whitehead Invitational
- Cincinnati women's tennis will host the 2019 Pam Whitehead Invitational at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center, just 4 miles from Xavier's campus.
- Last Fall, at the University of Cincinnati Invitational, Sophia Abelson and Anna Letto swept their doubles competition in the No. 1 spot, while Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas swept all three of their matches at the No. 2 spot.
- Xavier faced off against Cincinnati, Illinois Chicago and Chattanooga in last season's invitational.
- In their last matchup, Xavier defeated the Bearcats, 4-3, on April 7. Historically, the Musketeers are 5-2 against Cincinnati on the road.
Oct. 17-21 – at MTSU – ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships
- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association hosts tournaments in twelve different regions.
- The tournament features top women's collegiate players from across the country.
- The Ohio Valley Region will compete at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. this year.
- Last season, Xavier ended the event with 20 singles wins, the B-Flight Championship, and a quarterfinal appearance in the main draw.
- Lauren Fitz-Randolph collected five singles victories on her way to winning the B-Flight Championship. Emily Thomas advanced to the quarterfinals in the 128-person main draw and collected three singles wins.
