Four Musketeers Score in Double Figures, Xavier Falls to No. 14 DePaul

Sophomore Lauren Wasylson scored 12 points on Friday night
CINCINNATI - Junior A'riana Gray led four Musketeers in double figures on Friday night with 18 points as the Musketeers dropped a 91-68 contest with No. 14 DePaul. Gray added a game-high 11 rebounds as she increased her career double-doubles to 21.
The Musketeers moved to 2-15 (1-5 BIG EAST) on the year, while the Blue Demons improved to 16-2 (6-0 BIG EAST).
• Xavier led 6-5 on back-to-back free throws by A'riana Gray at the 6:15 mark in the opening quarter before the Blue Demons outscored the Musketeers, 15-10. DePaul led 20-16 after one quarter of play.
• Xavier hit 53.8 percent of its shot attempts in the first quarter with eight points coming from Carrie Gross.
• DePaul opened the second quarter on a 12-2 run to take its first double-figure lead, 32-18. Xavier got within seven (40-33) on an Aaliyah Dunham layup with 4:29 on the clock before the Blue Demons scored seven unanswered points to end the half.
• A'riana Gray and Carrie Gross both had eight points at the break, while Aaliyah Dunham had six. Gray and Sarah Leyendecker both led Xavier on the glass with five rebounds each.
• Turnovers proved costly as the Blue Demons scored 15 points off of 16 Xavier miscues.
• Xavier closed within 10 points three times in the third quarter. The Musketeers outscored DePaul, 24-21, in the frame as the Blue Demons took a 68-57 advantage into the final quarter.
• DePaul opened the final quarter on a 13-4 run to take its first 20-point lead of the game, 81-61, at the 4:30 mark. The Blue Demons held onto their 20-point advantage for the remainder of the game, pulling away for the 91-68 win.

• Junior A'riana Gray posted her 21st career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She added four assists and one steal.
• Junior Aaliyah Dunham scored 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting. The guard added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
• Xavier had 13 steals on the night, coming from eight different players. The Musketeers have posted 10 or more steals in six games this season.
