Xavier Musketeer Basketball Program Prepares To Celebrate Its Storied 100-Year History

The first official game was played on Feb. 20, 1920.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University will kick off a celebration of 100 years of Xavier basketball and appropriately will start with the Feb. 22 game against Villanova, which comes 100 years after the first officially recorded game in Xavier history on Feb. 20, 1920. The first 1920 Xavier fans will receive a commemorative poster at the Villanova game.
"Next month we officially unveil the branding for our celebration of 100 years of Xavier Basketball memories, which will tip off this summer across the Xavier social media and other digital platforms," said Xavier University Vice President and Director of Athletics Greg Christopher.
Xavier will launch a specially-branded web site and social media account this summer to celebrate the many stars and moments that made up the first 100 years.
"Xavier Basketball has a rich history and this year-long celebration is for all of Xavier Nation," said Christopher. "We look forward to welcoming back former players and coaches who built the program to where it is today."
