Xavier Men's Tennis Adds Three During Signing Period

CINCINNATI – Xavier men's tennis head coach Doug Matthew announced the addition a trio of four-star recruits during the latest signing period, Ryan Cahill, Marco Pennelli and Charlie Temming. All three will join the Musketeers in the fall of 2021 as freshmen.
"I am excited to welcome Charlie, Marco, and Ryan to the Xavier Tennis family," said Matthews. "These three are all great tennis players as well as great people. They are all motivated to help the program however possible and keep us moving in the right direction. I'm looking forward to their arrival next fall!"
Ryan Cahill comes to Xavier from Western Springs, Illinois, where he attends Laurel Springs School. Cahill, a four-star rated recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net, is rated No. 65 overall and No. 5 in the state of Illinois according to the service.
So far during his prep career, Cahill has won the Midwest Level 1 16s, as well as Midwest Level 2 18s as a 16-year-old. He also finished third in the Midwest Level 1 18s.
In the last year, Cahill has posted a 17-1 record against other four-star recruits.

Marco Pennelli comes to Xavier from Alpharetta, Georgia, where he attends William and Reed Academy.
Pennelli is a four-star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net, ranking as high as No. 81 for his class. Pennelli also earned the No. 1 ranking for the state of Georgia, and a spot in the top 10 for the Southern Region in USTA's 16 & Under rankings.
During his prep career, Pennelli has earned the Georiga Junior Spotlight Player of the Month, and has collected a third-place finish at the National 3 – 16 & Under in Cary, N.C. in 2019.

Charlie Temming is a Cincinnati native who comes to Xavier from St. Xavier High School. A four-star recruit as rated by TennisRecruiting.net, he's reached as high as No. 73 in the service's rankings and is currently rated as the No. 2 recruit out of Ohio.
During his prep career, Temming has been an Ohio State Champion in doubles, and has won National Level 3 and Midwest Level 3 Championships. He earned a spot in the Finals of the Midwest Level 2 and also qualified for the National Hard and Clay tournament.
Both of Temming's parents, Andy and Heidi, are Xavier graduates. His mother, formerly Heidi Pacella, was also a member of the Xavier Tennis program.
