Zach Freemantle Named BIG EAST Player Of The Week

This is the second straight week an XU player has been honored.

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore Zach Freemantle has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week. Freemantle averaged 18.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in wins over Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech and at Cincinnati this past week, while shooting 62.2 percent (23-of-37) from the field.

Freemantle, who scored a career-high 24 points in the Eastern Kentucky win and finished with 16 points and nine rebounds at Cincinnati, leads Xavier and ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in scoring at 17.2 ppg. He is second on the team and fifth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 8.5 rpg.

This marks the second straight week that a Musketeer has earned BIG EAST Weekly honors. Senior Paul Scruggs earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll last week.

Xavier, 6-0, hosts Oklahoma, 2-0, on Wednesday as part of the annual BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle.
