KyKy Tandy and Tyrique Jones Earn BIG EAST Conference Honors

Tandy is the Freshman of the Week and Jones in on the Honor Roll.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University freshman KyKy Tandy and senior Tyrique Jones both earned BIG EAST Conference honors this week.
Tandy was named BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week after averaging 11.0 points and 1.5 assists in wins over DePaul on Feb. 4 and Providence on Feb. 8. Tandy, who scored all 10 of his points vs. Providence in the decisive second half, has been a big key for Xavier in league play. XU has won five BIG EAST games and Tandy has averaged 13.2 ppg. for those five wins, hitting .590 (23-39) from the field, including .565 (13-23) from 3-point range.
Jones was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll, his second straight week earning a league award. Jones averaged 13.0 points, 18.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in the wins over DePaul and Providence. Jones, who has recorded three consecutive 18-rebound games, earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors last week.
Jones, who is second on the team in scoring at 13.5 ppg. (15th in the BIG EAST), has scored in double figures in a team-high 22 games, including the last 12 straight games. Jones, who leads the team in overall rebounding at 11.2 rpg. (first in the BIG EAST and eighth in the nation), is first in the BIG EAST and third in the nation in offensive rebounding at 4.4 rpg.
The Musketeers, 16-8 overall and 5-6 in the BIG EAST Conference, take a three-game winning streak to No. 19 Butler on Wednesday night.
