Â
• The Xavier women posted eight top-10 times at the BIG EAST Championships last year, paced by Anna Kostarellis who placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run (17:19.11). She also placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run (9:38.02).
• Anna Kostarellis also set the school record in the 3,000-meter run (9:33.43) at the Music City Challenge.
• The 4x800 relay team (Blackwell, Fioresi, Ramsey, Russell) also established a new school record in the event, posting a time of 9:09.03 at the BIG EAST Championships.
• On the men's side, the Musketeers had five top-10 finishes at the BIG EAST Championships. Two different relay teams set school records at the meet. The 4x400 (English, Hatchett, Henning, Roberts) finished fourth in a time of 3:17.48 and the 4x800 (Dietrich, Lough, Meehan, Stapleton) placed fourth in a time of 7:38.14.
Â
Â
"On Friday night Anna Kostarellis has a great opportunity in the 5,000m. Her heat was put together by several coaches, including coaches from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and myself. Each of us have athletes who are ready to run fast and move up on the national list in the 5k. I know if Anna's legs are recovered from the past few weeks of racing, she'll be right up there in the mix and will break another school record."
Â
"This meet will also be the first meet back for Jenna Clayworth. She's been out since October with a back injury but I felt it was time to get her back into racing. The next few opportunities for her will more or less be preparation for outdoor track but I felt it was time to start racing her again to start the process."
Â
"On the men's side, we have a bunch of men who are just looking to have a breakthrough race: Hautz, Houk, Harless and English. They all work so hard and deserve a shot at an individual event during the indoor championship but just haven't had everything come together yet on race day."
