Anna Roggenburk Named BIG EAST Tennis Athlete of the Week

NEW YORK - After helping Xavier go 2-0 against a pair of in-state foes, Xavier women's tennis freshman Anna Roggenburk was named the BIG EAST Tennis Athlete of the Week on the women's side.
"I'm so happy for Anna," said Xavier head coach Doug Matthews. "She started the season with a couple close losses and just stayed positive and kept working hard. She's such a good teammate and wants what is best for the team. This is the first of many awards for her!"
Roggenburk finished the weekend 3-0 overall. In a 4-3 win over Miami (Ohio) on Friday, Roggenburk claimed a win at the No. 2 singles spot, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6) to lift the Musketeers over the Redhawks. Roggenburk's win helped pull Xavier out of a 2-2 tie with the Redhawks after the Musketeers took the doubles point and a win in No. 5 spot
Against Cleveland State, Roggenburk helped the Musketeers claim the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles with Rachael Reichenbach. The rookie followed up her doubles win with a 6-4, 6-0, victory in the No. 2 singles spot as Xavier won, 7-0.
It's the first weekly award of Roggenburk's career and the first for the Musketeers this season.
