CINCINNATI - Xavier indoor track and field will split its squad this weekend and send its teams to both the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational and the Meyo Invitational.

The Musketeers will compete at the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational on Friday, Feb. 7 at 3:30 p.m. The meet is being held at Doden Field House.

The Meyo Invitational is slated for Feb. 7-8 at the Loftus Sports Center on the campus of Notre Dame. Friday's meet is slated to start at 4 p.m. and continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

• Xavier most recently competed at the Indiana Relays on Jan. 31- Feb. 1. Xavier posted five top-10 finishes at the meet, highlighted by Anna Kostarellis breaking the school record in the 3,000-meter run (9:25.18).

• Hannah Russell placed third in the 800-meter run (2:13.62) and Anna Kostarellis placed third in the 3,000-meter run (9:25.18).

INDOOR SCHEDULE NOTES

• Xavier opened the indoor season at the Mastodon Opener for the fifth consecutive season. All told, Xavier will compete in six indoor meets before the BIG EAST Championships.

• The BIG EAST Championships are slated for March 1-2 in Geneva, Ohio. The two-day meet is being held at the SPIRE Institute for the second time in as many years. The 2016 and 2018 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships were also held at the SPIRE Institute.

INDOOR NOTABLES

• The Xavier women posted eight top-10 times at the BIG EAST Championships last year, paced by Anna Kostarellis who placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run (17:19.11). She also placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run (9:38.02).

• Anna Kostarellis also set the school record in the 3,000-meter run (9:33.43) at the Music City Challenge.

• The 4x800 relay team (Blackwell, Fioresi, Ramsey, Russell) also established a new school record in the event, posting a time of 9:09.03 at the BIG EAST Championships.

• On the men's side, the Musketeers had five top-10 finishes at the BIG EAST Championships. Two different relay teams set school records at the meet. The 4x400 (English, Hatchett, Henning, Roberts) finished fourth in a time of 3:17.48 and the 4x800 (Dietrich, Lough, Meehan, Stapleton) placed fourth in a time of 7:38.14.

"We've come to this meet the past few years but I think they really stepped things up this year. With the addition of teams like Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue and Indiana our group should have great competition to race against."

"I think we got into some solid heats that similar to last week will test our ability to compete and race for a win rather than just hit a time. I also think it helps having three BIG EAST Conference teams in the meet. Seeing a conference rival in the same heat should push our athletes even more."
