"Overall, I'm pleased with our results from Notre Dame. Hannah Russell and Anna Kostarellis had outstanding performances and several others ran well. Hannah broke her own school record in the 800 in dramatic form. She was in a slower heat then she should have been and the race went out slow through 400m. When she heard the 400 split and realized how slow it was, she took off. She pulled away from the field and dominated her heat. Her time of 2:10.95 lowered her school record and got her close to what our outdoor track record is in the 800. Hannah has made tremendous progress over the past season but I think she even shocked herself today. 2:10 was probably the time she thought she'd run in April or May. Since she so far ahead of where she thought she'd be at this point, we're going to have to reset her goals and focus on winning a Big East Championship and making NCAA's in outdoor in the near future."
"I made a last-minute change to Anna's plan for the weekend because the 5k wasn't going to be fast enough for her. She would have ended up lapping the entire field so I switched her into the Championship 3,000m. The move paid off and Anna had a great field to race against live on ESPN. Although she didn't get the win, I was happy with her 4th place finish against some strong Big 10 competition. Anna will return to racing next week in the 5k to set a mark before we get to BIG EAST."
"Courtney Klatt also ran a person best in the mile. She's been improving each week and showed a lot of strength over the second half of her race today. Similar to Russell, I believe Klatt is also ready for a big breakthrough. With her new PR of 4:57, I think she can be a multi-event finalist at BIG EAST."
