LHP posted a 1.50 ERA during shortened 2020 season
TUCSON, Ariz. — Xavier left-handed pitcher Jack Lynch was named to the 2020 Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American team, powered by Diamond Sport, as a relief pitcher.
Lynch, who is originally from Dallas, posted a 1.50 ERA through 5.0 innings of work in five appearances during his rookie season, allowing just one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out five.
Lynch picked up the first win of his college career in his first outing, helping the Musketeers to a 9-6 win against Memphis. Lynch also pitched season-high five innings in the 2-1 win at No. 17 Long Beach State, allowing no runs on two hits with a season-best four strikeouts.
Following the season, Lynch was also ranked No. 13 on D1Baseball's list of the Top Freshman Pitchers for 2020. He was one of three Musketeers selected to the list, making Xavier the only school with three freshman pitchers in the Top 50 for the season.
Lynch also earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week during the abbreviated 2020 season, picking up the honor on March 9, following a week where he pitched 7.1 scoreless innings, including pitching 5.0 innings of relief in Xavier's 2-1 win over No. 17 Long Beach State.
