Billy O’Conner Adds Cal Elvers to Baseball Staff

Former Miami RedHawk joins Musketeers as volunteer assistant
CINCINNATI – Xavier baseball head coach Billy O'Conner announced the addition of Cal Elvers to his staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2021 season.
Elvers had a stand-out career as a catcher at Miami University from 2016 to 2020. An All-MAC selection in 2019, Elvers batted .306 with five home runs and 13 doubles, with a .876 on-base percentage that season, and earned a spot on the Buster Posey Award watch list. He was named a team captain for the 2020 season, and was batting .308 (4-for-13) when the season was cut short.
Elvers also had two years of experience playing in the Northwoods Collegiate League. During his baseball career, Elvers caught for a number of professional pitchers.
At Miami, Elvers also earned MAC All-Academic Team honors.
Elvers is originally from Springfield, Illinois. He earned a degree in Finance from Miami and has been working with DeGroot Logistics since August.
