The Musketeers move to 12-1-1 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST play

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Xavier women's soccer's freshmen fueled a three-goal first half for the Musketeers on the way to a 4-0 win at Seton Hall to move to 12-1-1 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST play.

Xavier took a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals from three freshman, Chloe Netzel, Shelby Sallee and Grace Menser. The Musketeers had a 12-0 advantage on shots and 3-0 advantage on corners in the first half.

Emma Marcus added another insurance goal about 15 minutes into the second half, and the Xavier defense held the Pirates scoreless, a fourth-straight shutout, to set the final score at 4-0.

Xavier remains on the road for its next match, traveling to Chicago on Thursday, October 14 to face DePaul, set for a 4:00 p.m ET start.

SCORING RECAP

12' | XAVIER | Chloe Netzel got the ball just outside the 18-yard box, shooting from about 20 yards out to the far post to put Xavier up, 1-0.

31' | XAVIER | Hayley Jakovich served the ball into the box to Sarah Owusu on the right side. Owusu found Shelby Sallee who drove into the box and shot from straight on to make it 2-0 Xavier.

38' | XAVIER | Shelby Sallee dribble the ball into the box, shooting from the left side, bringing the SHU goalkeeper out to make the save. The rebound went to Grace Menser on the right side who shot low to make it 3-0 Xavier.

60' | XAVIER | Emma Marcus got the ball in Xavier's attacking third and dribbled to the edge of the box. Marcus shot to the right post from 18 yards out to make it 4-0 Xavier.

NOTABLE

Chloe Netzel's first half goal, her team-high fifth of the season, was her third game-winner of the season. She now has 12 points.
Shelby Sallee's goal was her fourth of the season. She also picked up an assist on Grace Menser's goal, her second of the season, to give her 10 points for the season.
Grace Menser's goal was her first of her collegiate career to give her two points on the season.
Emma Marcus scored her fourth goal of the season in the second half, combined with two assists to give her 10 point on the season.
Sarah Owusu also picked up a point on an assist on Shelby Sallee's goal, her second helper of the season, combining with a goal to give her four points.
Xavier finished with a 23-5 advantage on shots, led by seven shots by Sallee. Molly McLaughlin finished with four shots.
Olivia Jenkins made two saves to keep the Pirates off the board, picking up the win to move to 12-1-1 with an eighth shutout.
Hayley Jakovich and Grace Brauer played the full time for Xavier's defense to help preserve the clean sheet. The Musketeers have clocked 360 straight minutes without allowing a goal.
