Grace Brauer earns spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
NEW YORK - Following another 2-0 weekend for Xavier women's soccer, a pair of Musketeers earned weekly honors from the BIG EAST office. Chloe Netzel was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week while Grace Brauer earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
Netzel, a freshman forward from St. Louis, played a part in both game-winning goals for the Musketeers last week, assisting on Ella Rogers' game winner against St. John's on Thursday, before scoring the game-winning goal in the 12th minute of a 4-0 victory at Seton Hall on Sunday. Netzel leads Xavier with 12 points off five goals and two assists on the year, with three of her five scores being game winners. This marks the second time she's been named Freshman of the Week.
Brauer, a senior defender from Belleville, Ill., played the full time in both matches for the Musketeers, helping the Xavier defense earn back-to-back shutout wins last week, and push the streak to 360 minutes-straight without allowing a goal. The Musketeers outshot St. John's and Seton Hall by a combined 41-12, including 19-5 on goal.
