Swimming Travels to Oakland for Saturday Dual

Meet kicks off at 1:00 p.m. at the Oakland Aquatic Center
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming travel to Rochester, Mich. this weekend to face Oakland in a dual meet on Saturday, October 23. Events are set to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Oakland Aquatic Center.

  OPPONENT NOTES |
- Oakland faced Michigan on October 9 in their first dual meet of the season, with the men falling 189-105 and the women falling 174-117.
- The Golden Grizzlies' women will face Toledo on Friday ahead of the meet with Xavier.
- The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a 2020-21 season where both squads brought home Horizon League championships.
- Xavier last faced Oakland in January 2015, at Cleveland State. In the most recent matchup between the two programs, the Xavier women fell 162-100, while the Musketeer men fell by a margin of 202-78.Â

  WEEKLY AWARDS |
- After setting the top time in the BIG EAST this season in three events last weekend, Jon Bernard earned conference Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Friday.
- Bernard was the top point scorer for the Musketeers at the Akron Zips Classic last Friday and Saturday. He collected 62 points on a pair of second-place finishes, as well as a fourth and a sixth place finish through the two-day, three session meet. Jon's time of 2:05.60 in the 200 breast was good for second place and is the top time by a BIG EAST competitor so far this season.Â
- Bernard's time of 1:53.84 in the 200 IM also earned second place and leads the conference. Bernard also set the fastest time so far in the BIG EAST in the 400 IM (4:06.30) and the second fastest time in the 100 breast (57.94) at the meet.

- The Musketeer men faced off with Denison and Youngstown State at the Akron Zips Classic last weekend.
- Christian Thomas, Jon Bernard, Joey Mullen and Andrew Martin finished fourth with a time of 3:24.47 in the 400 medley relay to open the first session.
- Andrew Martin took fourth in the 500 free with a time of 4:39.02.
- Jon Bernard took second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.84. Nathan Wall also picked up a top-five finish, placing fourth with a time of 1:55.67.
- Christian Thomas set the top time by the Musketeers in the 50 free at 21.22 to take sixth. Ethan Saunders touched just behind him in seventh. Gage Hannewyk and Ethan Wing finished ninth and tenth, respectively.
- Jon Bernard, Ben Quon, Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas took second in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:52.99 to close out the first session.
- On the second day, Ethan Saunders, Gage Hannewyk, Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas opened the morning session with a win in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.26.
- Jon Bernard posted the top time by a Musketeer in th 400 IM, finishing in 4:06.30 to place sixth.
- In the 100 fly, Caleb Petranchuk's time of 51.39 led Xavier, placing sixth.
- Andrew Martin took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:40.91.
- Ethan Saunders and Jon Bernard placed third and fourth, respectively, with Saunders' time of 57.91 leading the Musketeers. Caleb Petranchuk and Will Serad placed sixth and seventh.
- Ben Quon's time of 51.77 led four Musketeers in the top eight of the 100 back, placing fifth. Andrew Devine, Nick Mahoney and Christian Thomas placed sixth through eighth, respectively.
- Xavier's men closed out the morning session with a time of 1:33.25 for Christian Thomas, Jon Bernard, Caleb Petranchuk and Ethan Saunders in the 200 medley relay.
- Andrew Martin's time of 16:07.67 led Xavier in the mile, placing fourth to open up the afternoon session.
- Ben Quon led Xavier in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.76, placing fifth. Michael Benington placed sixth.
- Ethan Saunders set a time of 47.04 to lead Xavier in the 100 free, placing fifth. Christian Thomas and Gage Hannewyk tied for sixth.
- Jon Bernard placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.60. Nathan Wall finished sixth.
- Caleb Petranchuk led Xavier in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.30.
- Andrew Martin, Ethan Wing, Ethan Saunders and Christian Thomas closed out the meet with a second place finish for the Musketeers in the 400 free relay.
- Xavier finished with 805 points, sitting in third place behind Denison and Youngstown State.

- The Musketeer women faced off with Denison, Youngstown State and host Akron at the Akron Zips Classic last weekend.
- In the first session, Xavier took fifth in the 400 medley relay with the team of Kali Fischer, Lydia Schaeffer, Kiara Anchrum and Alexis Worrall.
- Emma Swabb's time of 5:06.66 led the Musketeers in the 500 free to finish in the top 10.
- Kali Fischer finished the 200 IM in fourth place with a time of 2:05.46.
- Molly Dynda finished the 50 free with a time of 24.23 to lead the Musketeers in the event.
- Clare Bosse, Clara Keiser, Kali Fischer and Alexis Worrall finished in fourth in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:35.84.
- The women opened the morning session with a third place finish in the 200 free relay for Molly Dynda, Reese Turner, Alexis Worrall and Kali Fischer, finishing in 1:35.20.
- Emily Guerrera led Xavier in the 400 IM with a time of 4:44.82.
- Kiara Anchrum's time of 57.74 was the top time by a Musketeer in the 100 fly.Â
- Kali Fischer took second in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.59. Alexi Worrall placed fourth with a time of 1:52.81.
- Lydia Schaeffer's time of 1:06.16 led Xavier in the 100 breast, placing seventh.
- Reese Turner picked up a seventh place finish in the 100 back with a time of 58.06.
- Xavier closed out the morning session with a Kali Fischer, Lydia Schaeffer, Hannah Pugh and Molly Dynda setting a time of 1:45.97 in the 200 medley relay to place fifth.
- Tilly Baldwin opened up the afternoon session for the Musketeers with a time of 18:21.29.
- Kali Fischer picked up a sixth-place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.07.
- Alexis Worrall's time of 52.62 led Xavier in the 100 free.
- Lydia Schaeffer's time of 2:26.17 was the top time by a Musketeer in the 200 breast.
- Kiara Anchrum again led Xavier in the fly, taking a fifth with a time of. 2:08.74 in the 200 fly.
- Xavier's women closed out the meet with a time of 3:30.03 in the 400 free relay for Clare Bosse, Clara Keiser, Alexis Worrall and Kali Fischer.
- Xavier's women finished in third place with 535.5, trailing first place Akron and Denison, but topping Youngstown State.

 UPCOMING SCHEDULE |
- Xavier takes part in the final dual of the fall on Saturday, October 30, traveling to Denison to face the Big Red at 1:00 p.m.
- The Big Red did not compete in a conference meet in 2021, but the women claimed the 2020 NCACÂ Championship, and the men finished second.
- Last February, the Musketeers picked nine combined event wins, but fell on both sides. Kali Fischer won a pair of events on the women's side, while Ben Quon, Andrew Martin and Roark Lundal won events on the men's side.

- The Musketeer men are looking for a four-peat in the BIG EAST after winning their third-straight BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championship in Spring 2021.
- Xavier collected 11 event championships and had all-conference finishes in 17 events, eventually winning by over 170 points over second-place Villanova. Xavier won 11 of 18 racing events, including four of five relays.
- Returners Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas each won three individual gold medals. Following the meet, Andrew Martin was named Most Outstanding swimmer on the men's side.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Jon Bernard, Andrew Devine, Davis Klein, Roark Lundal, Joey Mullen, Jack Parker, Ben Quon, Cameron Weese, Brett Wilson and Ethan Wing also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier added a sophomore transfer from Michigan State in Michael Benington, as well as a freshman class of Gage Hannewyk, Adam Lamping, Caleb Petranchuk, Ethan Saunders and Nathan Wall.

- The Musketeer women return seven who earned All-Conference honors for last season's third-place finishing team at the BIG EAST meet.
- Â Among the returners are Brooke Atkins and Kali Fischer who were part of the BIG EAST Championship winning 200 medley relay.Â
- Lydia Schaeffer, Clara Keiser, Emma Swabb, Erin Merke and Julianne Libler also picked up all-conference honors.
- Xavier's women added a six-person freshman class in Maddie Agans, Kiara Anchrum, Molly Dynda, Mary Sweetman, Reese Turner, Amy Van Son and Alexis Worrall.
