Hayley Jakovich Earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Olivia Jenkins earns a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll
NEW YORK - Following two-shutout BIG EAST wins over the weekend, Xavier women's soccer picked up a pair of weekly honor for its defense, with Hayley Jakovich earning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Olivia Jenkins earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Hayley Jakovich, who is originally from Eureka, Mo., played the full time in both of Xavier's wins, a 3-0 victory against Villanova on Thursday and a 2-0 win over Creighton on Sunday. The senior helped the Musketeers outshoot Villanova and Creighton by a 40-9 margin, including 18-3 on goal. Jakovich also scored the game-winning goal against the Bluejays on Sunday, scoring her first goal of the season less than five minutes into the contest.
Olivia Jenkins, who is from Plainfield, Ill. went 2-0-0 with two shutout wins over the weekend, collecting three total saves against Villanova and at Creighton. The win over the Bluejays was the tenth win of the season in-goal for the senior, setting a new school record for wins in a single season.
Xavier (10-1-1; 3-1 BIG EAST) returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 7 when the Musketeers host St. John's at 7:00 p.m. at Corcoran Field.
