Women's Tennis Adds Three During the Fall Signing Period

Musketeers add Emily Flowers, Abby Nugent and Abby Siminski for Fall 2022
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis added three newcomers during the Fall 2021 signing period. The newest Musketeers, Emily Flowers, Abby Nugent and Abby Siminski, have all been ranked in TennisRecruiting.net's Top 100 as seniors, a first for the program.
"I am excited to welcome Abby Nugent, Abby Siminski, and Emily Flowers to the Xavier tennis family," said head coach Doug Matthews. "These three are all incredibly passionate about Xavier and will all be great fits on and off the court. They are all state champions and know how to win and compete. This class is excited to build on our strong tradition and help us continue to compete for BIG EAST Championships."

Emily Flowers comes to Xavier from Tucson, Arizona, where she attends Catalina Foothills High School.

In each her two complete years of competition (2019 and 2021), Flowers won the individual state singles championship and was a part of two team state championships, including collecting a 21-0 record on the way to the 2021 title.

Flowers, who is headed into her senior season, has qualified for Intersectionals and sectionals as part of the Catalina Foothills program each year she has been there. Flowers also won L2 tournament in doubles and was named Southwest Junior Player of the Year.

Flowers is rated as a four-star recruit on TennisRecruiting.net, and ranked as high as 79 in the nation in the past year, as she collected a 9-7 record against five-star recruits.

Abby Nugent comes to Xavier from Springboro, Ohio where she will graduate from Ohio Connections Academy.

Nugent won the 2019 OHSAA Division I Singles State Championship in 2019 while competing with Springboro High School, going 8-0 in the regular season, earning Ohio Athlete of the Year honors. Nugent was also a 16s National Level 2 winner and Winter National quarterfinalist.

Nugent is a five-star recruit on TennisRecruiting.net and has earned a national ranking as high as No. 32 in 2021.

Abby Siminski comes to Xavier from Ada, Michigan where she attends Forest Hills Northern High School.

Siminski was named the USA Today 2021 Michigan Girls' Tennis Player of the Year after playing No. 1 singles for the 2021 Michigan D2 State Champions. The state title followed up a finalist finish at the state tournament in 2019. In 2020, prior to the season being cut short, she earned a ranking of No. 3 in the Midwest.

Siminski is rated as a four-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, reaching as high as No. 96 in the nation in 2021. She also earned a ranking of No. 64 in the sites Tennis RPI.

Siminski also earned the National Merit Scholarship Commended Student title.
