Paul Scruggs Earns BIG EAST Conference Honor

Scruggs led Xavier in scoring in the two wins this past week.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University senior guard Paul Scruggs has been named to the weekly BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for his efforts in Xavier's season-opening wins over Niagara and Kent State.
Scruggs averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game for the two games. He led Xavier in scoring in both wins, including 23 points to go with seven rebounds in the 73-59 win over Kent State on Friday night.
Scruggs was a unanimous choice on the 2021-22 preseason All-BIG EAST First Team by league coaches. In addition, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has Scruggs among the 20 Watch List candidates for the 2022 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.
Xavier, 2-0, hosts No. 19 Ohio State on Thursday night at Cintas Center as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games.
