CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming continues the 2021 spring schedule on Saturday, Feb. 20 traveling to Granville, Ohio to face Denison. Events are set to begin at noon and will be live streamed.

DENISON NOTES

Denison's men opened the season with a 215-83 win over Youngstown State, while the women had an exhibtion due to YSU's women being unable to travel.
Denison's women are coming off a 2020 season where they won the program's 10th North Coast Athletic Conference Championship, while the men are coming off a second-place finish at the conference meet.
Xavier last faced Denison last season, with both Musketeer squads falling in Granville.
Taylor Hogan lead the way for the women with two top individual finishes, in the 100 fly and 400 IM.
Christian Thomas (100 back, 100 free) and Andrew Martin (500 free, 1000 free) each had a pair of first place finishes, and Jon Bernard took the top spot in the 100 breast.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Xavier will be back in action on March 6, when the Musketeers will host an intrasquad scrimmage at the Heidt Family Champions Center.
Xavier closes out the 2021 regular season in a two-day meet at Indana State with Missouri State on March 19-20.

MEN LAST TIME OUT

Xavier's men were last in action at Miami, where the Musketeers fell by a score of 196-68.
Jon Bernard, Davis Klein, Joey Mullen and Andrew Martin led Xavier in the 400 medley with a time of 3:26.09.
Andrew Martin won a pair of events, the 200 free (1:38.98) and the 500 free (4:31.70)
Jon Bernard set the top time by a Musketeer in three events, picking up the win in the 200 back (1:48.83), placing second in the 200 IM (1:52.78) and finishing fourth in the 100 breast (57.06).
Joey Mullen led Xavier in a pair of races, placing fourth in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.04 and fifth in the 100 fly with a time of 51.09.
Noah Coomler and Ethan Wing led Xavier in the freestyle sprints, with Coomler taking fifth with a time of 21.74 in the 50 free and Wing placing third with a time of 46.16 in the 100 free.
Daniel Stroh, Andrew Devine and Cameron Weese each led the Musketeers in a race, the 1000 free, 100 back and 200 breast, respectively.
Xavier closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay with Ethan Wing, Andrew Martin, Jared Ritz and Ben Quon setting a time of 1:24.18.

WOMEN LAST TIME OUT

The women faced Ball State last weekend, falling 166-80.
Kali Fischer, Lydia Schaeffer, Taylor Hogan and Maureen Cummins set the top time by the Musketeers at 1:49.14 in the 200 medley relay to open the meet.
Kali Fischer led the Musketeers in a pair of events, placing first in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.90 and placing third in the 50 free with a time of 24.30.
Alison Herman led the Musketeers in pair of events, the 200 breast and 400 IM with times of 2:27.96 and 4:37.56, respectively
Taylor Hogan led Xavier in a pair of events, the 100 back (58.85) and 100 fly (58.08).
Clara Keiser led the Musketeers in two events, the 100 free (54.15) and the 1000 free (10:56.69).
Erin Ritz led Xavier in a pair of freestyle events, the 200 free and 500 free, with times of 2:01.55 and 5:26.48, respectively.
Lydia Schaeffer and Lorelei Gaertner each posted the top time by a Musketeers, in the 100 breast and 200 fly, respectively.
Xavier closed out the meet with a time of 1:39.25 in the 200 free relay for Kali Fischer, Lorelei Gaertner, Maureen Cummins and Clara Keiser.

XAVIER MEN

Xavier's men will look for a third-straight team BIG EAST Championship this season, with eight All-BIG EAST performers returning from last season.
Among Xavier's returnees are is freestyle distance specialist Andrew Martin, who led the Musketeers in individual points scored at last season's conference meet. During his rookie season, Martin took home the BIG EAST Championship in the 1,650 free with an NCAA B-Cut time, and collected a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 free and 500 free, posting school records in all three races.
Xavier also return all-conference performers Jon Bernard, Noah Coomler, Ben Quon, Jared Ritz, Will Serad, Alex Sironen and Christian Thomas.
Xavier added a pair of newcomers to the roster, Reed Harris and Jack Parker.
The Musketeers lost three members of last year's BIG EAST Championship squad to graduation, including two-time BIG EAST Champion in the 200 fly, Landon Clark, and Brandon Abboud, who earned All-BIG EAST in a team-leading five events last season.

XAVIER WOMEN

Xavier's women finished third at the 2020 BIG EAST Championships, collecting three first place finishes along the way.
Xavier returns seven All-Conference honorees, including the BIG EAST Champ in the 200 fly, Taylor Hogan.
All-BIG EAST Team members Brooke Atkins, Clare Bosse, Maureen Cummins, Lorelei Gaertner, Erin Merke and Lydia Schaeffer also return.
Xavier's roster is also bolstered by the addition of an eight-person incoming class on the women's side.
The Musketeers had five graduate following last season. Among the graduating class were four All-BIG EAST performers, including Emily Conners who led the Musketeers with all-conference performances in seven events last season, including the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free.
