Musketeers Drop 73-61 Road Contest at Butler on Monday Night

Senior Aaliyah Dunham posted nine points, eight rebounds and five assists vs the Bulldogs
INDIANAPOLISÂ - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 73-61 BIG EAST road matchup at Butler on Monday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The Musketeers moved to 4-8 (1-7 BIG EAST), while the Bulldogs improved to 2-15 (2-14 BIG EAST). Xavier has now dropped five straight in the series with the Bulldogs.

• Xavier jumped out to a five-point lead (18-13) with 3:16 left in the first quarter before the Bulldogs ended the frame on a 13-1 run, taking a 26-19 lead. A'riana Gray led the Musketeers with eight points in the first quarter. Xavier also hit 41.2 percent (7-for-17) of its shot attempts in the first quarter.
• Butler led by as many as eight points (31-23) at the 6:45 mark in the second quarter before the Musketeers closed the half on a 14-5 run, taking a one-point lead (37-36) into the locker room.
• A'riana Gray led Xavier with 13 points in the half, while Nia Clark added 10 points. Xavier knocked down six three pointers and held a 21-12 advantage on the glass.

• Butler opened the second half on a 14-1 run, taking its first double-figure lead (50-38) of the game at the 2:53 mark. Xavier responded by scoring nine of the final 11 points of the third quarter, closing within five points (52-47).
• Xavier opened the final stanza with a pair of Ayanna Townsend free throws to close within three points (52-49), but the Bulldogs responded with nine unanswered points to take a 62-49 advantage with 7:57 left in regulation. Butler outscored Xavier, 21-14, in the final quarter to pull away for the 73-61 victory.

• Nia Clark scored 13 points with four 3-pointers, while Aaliyah Dunham chipped in nine points. Dunham added a career-high eight rebounds, five assists and one steal.
• Kae Satterfield finished with five points and five rebounds. Carrie Gross and Ayanna Townsend both chipped in four points.
• Xavier won the battle on the glass, 39-38, and scored thee more second-change points (11-8). Butler held a 15-6 advantage in points off of turnovers.
