Staff has put in tireless work to keep student-athletes and staff safe.
CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Sports Medicine Staff has been selected as the recipient of the Greg Park All For One Award. The award was presented by Vice President for Administration and Director of Athletics Greg Christopher.
The Greg Park All For One Award is given by the athletics staff to the individual who exceeds expectations throughout the department and works to improve Xavier Athletics as a whole. This marks the first time the award has been given to a group. Greg Park, the award's namesake, was the first-ever athletic business manager at Xavier and spent 25 years in the role before retiring in July 2013.
"Our Sports Medicine Staff has been working tirelessly since the pandemic began to ensure the safety of our student-athletes and staff," said Christopher. "It would be impossible to single out just one person. They go beyond testing and protocols. The leadership of this team allowed us to safely return to play and to navigate the many challenges of the pandemic. The battle is not over but we felt it was long overdue to recognize their value to Xavier Athletics. They have done all of this while also tackling their traditional job responsibilities."
David Fluker, Head Athletic Trainer, leads the six-person Xavier Sports Medicine team that includes Assistant Athletic Trainers Connor Barnes, Connor Gearhart, Jordon Johnson, Nate Hoffmeier and Megan Whyte.
"I am happy that the contributions of this group have been recognized. I am very fortunate to have an excellent team of sports medicine professionals that work well together," said Fluker. "Our partnership with the medical professionals at Tri-Health and Beacon Orthopedics allows us to provide all of our student-athletes and coaches the best opportunity to compete safely."
