CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball head coach Melanie Moore has announced the addition of Jovahn Masters to her support staff. He will serve as a graduate assistant for the program.
"Jovahn is a rising star in our profession," said Moore. "He came highly recommended by multiple people and he is very passionate about BIG EAST Basketball. He has college coaching experience so he will help our program grow in many areas. We are thrilled to have him at Xavier!"
Masters will assist in the day-to-day operations of the program. He will also assist with film exchange, scouting reports and summer camps.
Masters spent two seasons at Viterbo University (2019-21), serving most recently as the lead assistant coach (2020-21). He spent the 2019-20 campaign as an assistant coach/director of basketball operations.
In 2020-21 basketball, he helped the V-Hawks post a 9-7 record, the team's first winning record since 2004-05. He also helped coach two players to All-NSAA Honors during his time on the bench.
Masters was also the junior varsity boys basketball coach at La Crosse Aquinas HS from 2018-19 and worked summer camps for Dayton and Marquette men's basketball in 2019.
The Eau Claire, Wis., native earned a bachelor's degree in social studies education from Wisconsin-La Crosse in the fall of 2019.
