Musketeers Drop Four-Set Match at Charlotte

Moriah Hopkins posted a match-high 17 kills in the loss
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Xavier dropped its second match of the Charlotte Invitational on Friday night, falling to the host 49ers in four sets (23-25, 23-25, 25-19, 21-25).
Xavier moved to 1-1 on the year, while Charlotte improved to 1-0.
The Musketeers wrap up tournament action vs Pac-12 member Colorado on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m.
• Moriah Hopkins led three Musketeers in double-figure kills with a match-high 17. The senior right-side hitter posted a .353 hitting percentage to go along with three blocks and two digs.
• Carrigan O'Reilly and Norah Painter both added double-doubles for the Musketeers. O'Reilly finished with a match-high 44 assists to go along with 10 kills, five digs and two blocks. Painter chipped in 11 kills and a career-high 19 digs.
• Stevie Wolf added a career-high 35 digs to go along with six assists. Alyssa Overbeck chipped in 14 digs and two assists. Kelly Franxman finished with nine kills and 15 digs.
• The 49ers had eight more total team blocks (16-8) than the Musketeers. Delaney Hogan led Xavier with four blocks. The middle blocker added eight kills.
• Xavier moved to 12-3 in the all-time series with Charlotte following the loss.
• The match featured 14 ties and nine lead changes.
