Emma Grace records 10 kills and three aces in first career start
CINCINNATI, OHÂ - In the second intrastate battle of the week, Xavier swept Miami by a score of 25-19, 25-11, 25-19. There were many bright spots in the Xavier lineup, as 13 Musketeers saw game action.
Xavier goes to .500 with their second-straight split weekend, while Miami (OH) falls to 2-7.
Â
• In her first career start, Freshman Emma Grace put on a show. She had 10 kills and nine digs, one shy of a double-double. She tallied three aces from the service line, the most by Xavier since their season opener.
• Delaney Hogan followed her career-high kill count yesterday with nine tonight against Miami. She also served up eight blocks (one solo) to tie her career high. It is the most by a Musketeer this season.
• Setter Carrigan O'Reilly did a little bit of everything for the Musketeers. While compiling 33 assists, she added seven kills of her own without an error, and blocked six Redhawk attacks.
• Seniors Ellie Chaffee, Moriah Hopkins and Norah Painter each had five kills, and helped Xavier garner a .316 hitting percentage across the match. Chaffee also had a solo block, Hopkins had an assist, and Painter added a block of her own.
• Libero Stevie Wolf led the team in digs with 16, followed by Grace (9).
• Hayley Heitmeyer wasted no time in registering her first career kill, as her lone attack in the third set found the court for the point.
Â
• Xavier puts the non-conference schedule in the rearview mirror as they prepare to host Providence and No. 17 Creighton to open up BIG EAST play next weekend.
