Swimming Heads to Louisville for First Dual of 2021-22

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will travel to Louisville to compete in the first dual meet of the season, facing the Cardinals on Friday, October 1 at the Ralph Wright Natatorium. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.

- The meet with the Musketeers is UofL's first competition of the season.
- Louisville's men are coming off an ACC Championship, finishing fifth at the NCAA Championships, while the women finished third in the conference, finishing 13th at the NCAA meet.
- Xavier last faced the Cardinals in October 2019, picking up a pair of event wins but falling on both sides. Jon Bernard collected one of the event wins, in the 100 breast.

- Â At the Butler Quad, Xavier's men picked up four event wins on the way to a second place finish.
- Andrew Devine, Matt Williams, Gage Hannewyk and Ethan Saunders led Xavier in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.73.
- Adam Lamping's time of 10:02.80 in the 1000 free led the Musketeers.
- Andrew Martin collected two event wins, taking the 200 free with a time of 1:42.24 and the 500 free with a time of 4:43.44.
- Christian Thomas time of 21.44 placed second in the 50 free.
- Jon Bernard led three Musketeers in the top three of the 400 IM with a time of 4:06.42. Jack Parker finished second and Michael Benington placed third.Â
- Caleb Petranchuk's third place finish with a time of 1:57.30 led the Musketeers in the 200 fly. Brett Wilson touched just behind him in fourth.
- Ethan Saunders finished the 100 free with a time of 47.63 to place second. Gage Hannewyk finished fifth and Ethan Wing placed fifth.
- Ben Quon finished third in the 200 back with a time of 1:54.91. Michael Benington placed fourth.
- Jon Bernard took second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.72. Nathan Wall finished fifth.
- Xavier closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay for Christian Thomas, Ethan Saunders, Ethan Wing and Andrew Martin with a time of 3:05.74
- The Musketeers picked up wins over Saint Louis and Valpo, but fell to IUPUI.

- At the Butler Quad, the Musketeer women won three events, finishing second in the team standings.Â
- Xavier took the top three spots in the 200 medley relay, led by the A team of Kali Fischer, Lydia Schaeffer, Hannah Pugh and Alexis Worrall.
- Tilly Baldwin placed fifth in the 1000 free with a time of 11:15.44.
- Clara Keiser picked up the event win in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.10. Clare Bosse and Mary Sweetman finished third and fourth respectively.
- Alexis Worrall's time of 24.63 in the 50 free led three Musketeers in the top seven, placing second. Molly Dynda finished fourth and Reese Turner finished seventh.
- Emily Guerrera's fourth place finish in the 400 IM lead four Musketeers in the top 10, with Maddie Agans placing seventh, Kelly Harris finishing ninth and Kate Lair taking 10th.
- Kiara Anchrum placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.86. Emma Jury finished fourth.
- Mary Sweetman posted the top time by a Musketeer, finishing third with a time of 54.30.
- Kali Fischer's second place finish with a time of 2:03.50 led three Musketeers in the top five of the 200 back, with Hannah Pugh touching third and Brooke Atkins finishing fifth.
- Clara Keiser finished eighth in the 500 free with a time of 5:23.03.
- Lydia Schaeffer finished second with a time of 2:27.19 in the 200 breast. Kelly Harris placed third, Kate Lair and Julianne Libler finished fifth and sixth respectively.
- Xavier closed out the meet with another relay win, with Kali Fischer, Alexis Worrall, Clare Bosse and Clara Keiser finishing the 400 free relay in 3:29.25.
- Xavier's women picked up wins over Saint Louis, Butler and Valpo but fell narrowly to IUPUI.

- The Musketeer men are looking for a four-peat in the BIG EAST after winning their third-straight BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championship in Spring 2021.
- Xavier collected 11 event championships and had all-conference finishes in 17 events, eventually winning by over 170 points over second-place Villanova. Xavier won 11 of 18 racing events, including four of five relays.
- Returners Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas each won three individual gold medals. Following the meet, Andrew Martin was named Most Outstanding swimmer on the men's side.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Jon Bernard, Andrew Devine, Davis Klein, Roark Lundal, Joey Mullen, Jack Parker, Ben Quon, Cameron Weese, Brett Wilson and Ethan Wing also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier added a sophomore transfer from Michigan State in Michael Benington, as well as a freshman class of Gage Hannewyk, Adam Lamping, Caleb Petranchuk, Ethan Saunders and Nathan Wall.

- The Musketeer women return seven who earned All-Conference honors for last season's third-place finishing team at the BIG EAST meet.
- Â Among the returners are Brooke Atkins and Kali Fischer who were part of the BIG EAST Championship winning 200 medley relay.Â
- Lydia Schaeffer, Clara Keiser, Emma Swabb, Erin Merke and Julianne Libler also picked up all-conference honors.
- Xavier's women added a six-person freshman class in Maddie Agans, Kiara Anchrum, Molly Dynda, Mary Sweetman, Reese Turner, Amy Van Son and Alexis Worrall.
