Colby Jones Named To BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore Colby Jones has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for his efforts in games vs. Villanova and Creighton this past week. Jones averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals for the week. He led XU with 16 points to go with nine rebounds in the Creighton win on Saturday.

Xavier has now had a player honored in eight of the first nine weeks of the league awards, including two Player of the Week selections and six Honor Roll selections. Jones becomes the sixth different Musketeer to earn a BIG EAST weekly honor so far this season. In addition to Jones, three other Musketeers have captured spots on the BIG EAST Honor Roll: seniors Nate Johnson (Nov. 29 and Dec. 6) and Adam Kunkel (Nov. 22 and Jan. 10) have both been honored twice each and senior Paul Scruggs (Nov. 15) has been selected once. Two other Musketeers have earned BIG EAST Player of the Week: sophomore Dwon Odom (Dec. 20) and junior Jack Nunge (Dec. 13).

Jones, who is third in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 8.3 rpg., is third on the team in scoring at 11.2 ppg.

No. 20 Xavier, 13-3 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, plays at DePaul on Wednesday night.
