Junior defender helped Musketeers to fifth-straight shutout

NEW YORK - After helping No. 22 Xavier remain unbeaten in BIG EAST play with a fifth-straight shutout, junior defender Maddie Reed earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.

Reed, originally from Louisville, Ky., played the full 90 minutes for the Xavier defense in the Musketeers' 0-0 draw at St. John's on Sunday, helping limit the Red Storm to just five shots overall and three on-goal. The shutout was the Musketeers' 10th of the season, tying the 2021 season for the third-most team shutouts in a season in Xavier records. The Musketeer defense hasn't allowed a goal in the last 525 minutes of action, going back to the first half of the DePaul match.

Xavier moved to 11-2-3 overall with the draw at St. John's and remains unbeaten in league play at 5-0-2, extending its unbeaten streak to nine matches. The Musketeers return to action on Thursday, hosting Providence at 7:00 p.m. at Corcoran Field.
