Women's Soccer Clinches 2-Seed in BIG EAST Championship with Win over Creighton

Chloe Netzel, Molly McLaughlin score in 2-1 victory in regular season home finale
After a pair of early shots from Creighton, the Musketeers took control on offense early in the first half, taking the 1-0 lead in the first 10 minutes on goal from Chloe Netzel, from Ella Rogers. A penalty kick for Molly McLaughlin in the 33rd minute sent Xavier into the break with a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Creighton turned up the pressure on offense, holding a 9-5 advantage on shots and 3-1 advantage on corners after halftime. After a Xavier foul in the box in the final 10 minutes, the Bluejays were able to get on the board with a PK in the 82nd minute, ending Xavier's streak of holding opponents scoreless at just under 700 straight-minutes.
Xavier wraps up regular season play on Thursday, October 27, traveling to Milwaukee, Wis., to face Marquette, set for an 8:00 p.m ET start.

- Molly McLaughlin's goal on the penalty kick was her team-high fifth tally of the season. She leads the Musketeers with 12 points and matches Regan Dancer for team high with three game-winners.
- McLaughlin is 4-4 on PKs for the season, matching for the best percentage in the country. Entering the day, four made PKs were tied with third most in NCAA DI. She's now 6-6 on penalty kicks for her Xavier career.
- Chloe Netzel's early goal is her fourth of the season, bringing her point total to nine. Both marks trail only McLaughlin for team-high in both categories.
- Creighton held a 15-13 advantage on shots, but the Musketeers finished with a 5-4 advantage on shots on-frame. Both teams had three corners.
- Xavier's streak of consecutive shutouts going back to the DePaul game, came to an end in the 82nd minute after 697 consecutive minutes of action without allowing a goal.
- Maria Galley picked up her 12th win in-goal, collecting three saves with one goal against.
- Natalie Bain and Maddie Reed played the full 90 minutes on the Xavier backline to help limit the Bluejays to three looks on frame in game action.
