No. 24 Women's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season with Draw at Marquette

Musketeers finish BIG EAST regular season at 6-0-4, marking the first unbeaten conference slate in program history
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Xavier women's soccer closed out the regular season with an unbeaten record in BIG EAST matches after playing Marquette to a 1-1 draw on Thursday evening at Valley Fields. The Musketeers moved to 12-2-5 overall and 6-0-4 in conference action.
In the first half, the two offenses were equally match, with Xavier holding a slight 5-4 advantage on shots and each team getting two looks on-frame. Marquette moved into the scoring column first with a goal in the 34th minute, but the Musketeers responded just before the half, with Grace Blumfeldt scoring in the 44th minute from Molly McLaughlin and Ella Rogers to send to match to the half tied 1-1.
After the break, Xavier had the 3-1 advantage on shots, with, two of the Musketeers' second-half looks going on-frame, but neither team found the back of the net to end the match in a 1-1 draw.
Xavier earned the No. 2 seed and a bye in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship, and will next be in action on Thursday, Nov. 3 in the BIG EAST Semifinals at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. Xavier will face the winner of the No. 3/6 match to be played on Sunday, October 30.

McLaughlin sent the ball back into the six yard box where Grace Blumfeldt got a foot on it to tie the match at 1-1.

- Grace Blumfeldt's equalizer in the first half was her first goal of the season and second as a Musketeer. Combined with a pair of assists, she has four points on the season. She's the 11th Musketeer to record a goal in 2022.
- Molly McLaughlin picked up an assist on Blumfeldt's goal, bringing her team-high point total to 13 points on five goals and three assists.
- Ella Rogers picked up an assist on Blumfeldt's goal as well, her team-high matching fourth of the season. Combined with a goal, she has six points for the year.
- Emma Marcus led the Musketeers with three shots and the Musketeers finished with an 8-5 advantage on shots and a 4-2 advantage on shots on-goal. Each team had five corners.
- Maddie Reed, Natalie Bain and Elise Le played the full 90 minutes, helping limit MU to just five goals and only two on-frame.
- Maria Galley collected one save with one goal against, and moved to 12-2-5 on the season.
- Xavier's 6-0-4 mark in BIG EAST play marks the first unbeaten record in conference play in program history.
- The Musketeers' unbeaten streak extends to 12 matches.
