Musketeers come out on top in the first matchup of the pair in the 2022 season

QUEENS, N.Y. - Xavier volleyball posted a five-set win (22-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 15-12) at St. John's on Friday night. The Musketeers moved to 8-1 in five-set matches on the year.

St. John's, prior to this match was seated third in the BIG EAST standings while Xavier sat at four, With the win, Xavier improved to 14-7 (7-4 BIG EAST) while St. John's dropped to 16-8 (7-4 BIG EAST). The pair will see each other once more in the regular season on Nov. 13 in Cintas Center.

NOTABLES

• Brooklyn Cink achieved her sixth career double-double and a Xavier career high in kills in the five-set match. The senior recorded 22 kills and 17 digs, while also posting three block assists, three service aces and one block solo.

• Delaney Hogan tallied the team highs in hitting percentage and in block assists for the Musketeers. The junior middle blocker hit for .455 (11-1-22) in the match while also recording six block assists and one block solo.

• Carrigan O'Reilly achieved her 28th career double-double with 46 assists and 11 digs. The seniors career total for assists moves to 2,941 while adding three block assists and a block solo to the team's performance.

• Graduate middle blocker Angel Robinson contributed five block assists to the squad's 22 total.

• Three members of the squad hit double-digits in kills with Cink posting 22, Hogan tallying 11, and senior outside hitter Maryann O'Toole recording 10.

• Three members of the squad also hit double-digits in digs with O'Reilly recording 11, senior defensive specialist Alyssa Overbeck posting 10, and Cink taking the team high of 17.

• In set number two, Cink went on an 8-0 scoring run from the service line and in set three, O'Reilly followed up with a 6-0 scoring run.

• Four members of the squad managed a service ace on the Red Storm with Cink leading with three and Overbeck, junior defensive specialist Stevie Wolf, and sophomore libero Lucia Corsaro all posting one.
