Regan Dancer scores game-winner in first half; Musketeer defense picks up ninth shutout

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer remained unbeaten in BIG EAST play, topping UConn, 1-0, at Corcoran Field on Sunday afternoon. The Musketeers moved to 11-2-2 overall and 5-0-1 in conference action.

The Musketeers took the lead midway through the first half on a goal from Regan Dancer, from Ella Rogers and Grace Blumfeldt, and took the lead into the break. The Musketeers controlled much of the first half allowing just a pair of UConn shots before the break, and just one on-frame.

In the second half, UConn's offense created more pressure, outshooting Xavier 10-8 after the break with a 4-3 advantage on shots on-goal in the second half, but the Huskies were unable to find the back of the net for the 1-0 win and Xavier's fourth-straight shutout.

Next up, the Musketeers have a mid-week bye before heading to Queens, N.Y., to face St. John's on Sunday, Oct. 16, set for a 1:00 p.m start on the BEDN.

SCORING RECAP

25' | XAVIER | Grace Blumfeldt brought the ball to the edge of box, finding Ella Rogers who tapped the ball in front of the net for Regan Dancer, who shot past the goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead.

NOTABLE

Regan Dancer's goal was her third of the season, and her team-high third game-winner. Combined with an assist, she has seven points on the season.
Ella Rogers picked up an assist on the game-winning goal, bringing her season total to four points on a goal and two assists.
Grace Blumfeldt also picked up an assist on Dancer's goal, her second of the season.
Xavier finished with a 15-12 advantage on shots overall and a 6-5 advantage on shots on-frame. Molly McLaughlin's four shots led the Musketeers.
Xavier also finished with a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Maria Galley picked up her 11th win and ninth clean sheet in-goal after collecting five saves.
Natalie Bain, Maddie Reed, Rachel Dewey, Elise Le and Molly McLaughlin all played the full 90 minutes, helping Xavier to a fourth-straight shutout, nine overall.
Xavier's unbeaten streak extends to eight matches.
The Musketeer defense hasn't allowed a goal in the last 435 minutes of action, dating back to the first half of the DePaul match.
